I was once asked me if the CEO speakers all start to sound the same after awhile. I responded that while there can be common themes (treating people right, working hard, being patient, etc.) the stories are all so unique and that's what hits home with the student entrepreneurs. That was certainly true in the last two weeks. Dan Shedlov, founder of Fixed Assets MN, talked about walking away from a partnership that wasn't working, hiring staff, word-of-mouth advertising and prepping for a possible recession. Jeremy Mathwig, owner of the Buffalo Play it Again Sports, discussed social media marketing, franchise requirements, leasing vs. owning and writing a business plan. John D'Agostini, founder of Invictus Legacy, talked about the purpose of mentorship, referral based businesses, profit mentality vs. service mentality and writing/marketing a book. Last but certainly not least, Ken Beamish, founder of Cyber Geeks, discussed market research, competitive analysis, billing for services and opportunity cost. Thank you to these entrepreneurs for sharing their stories and advice with the students.
