Find a pain/problem in the marketplace and create a solution. Although this is easier said than done, two entrepreneurs connected with the class and talked about their solutions to marketplace pains. Brent Stromme, founder of seven different businesses, talked about being a Dreamer vs. being a Doer and how you have to Dare to take that risk. Steve Horning, founder of Med2Rent, talked about the importance of trusted relationships, his unique niche and understanding a balance sheet. Students started writing a business plan for the first time and gave a Shark Tank style persuasive pitch on a product they found on Kickstarter. Elements of the pitch included statistics on growth opportunities, product differentiation, SWOT analysis, target market, market objectives and marketing strategy.
